Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan may have taken a break from the IPL season to cast his vote but fellow actor Shilpa Shetty who owns the Rajasthan Royals decided to stay put in South Africa to cheer her team on. Interestingly, the actress may have decided to skip the voting season, but that did not stop her from advising others to exercise their franchise.
"Just regret the fact that I won't be in India to cast my vote, really wanted to this time. Elections have to be taken seriously if you are a responsible citizen," Shetty who co-owns the team with billionaire fiance, Raj Kundhra wrote on her blog. Shetty also posted a video of herself on her official website asking everybody to exercise their right to vote, saying, "Please go vote and make a difference".
"Unfortunately with the unexpected turn of events and the IPL being shifted to SA it's become difficult. I would not miss voting for anything otherwise. But to all those Indian citizens who want the best for our Country, now is the time to make the decision, don't waste your democratic right to choose," wrote the actress. Shilpa may have missed the voting season but a host of Bollywood stars turned up to exercise their democratic right.
Stars like Aamir Khan, John Abraham and Vidya Balan, Karan Johar, Sonali Bendre, Sonam Kapoor, Rahul Bose and Paresh Rawal turned out early to cast their votes for the final phase of Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra.
