Lindsay Lohan dating web entrepreneur

Agencies
Posted: May 01, 2009

Lindsay Lohan seems to have turned a new leaf after the split with DJ Samantha Ronson and dating numerous Hollywood celebrities as the actress has now found love in a web entrepreneur.

The actress is dating 36-year-old Ben Holz, a Seattle based entrepreneur who is currently holidaying with her in Hawaii, reported ‘Ace Showbiz’.

The 'Mean Girls' actress has not yet offered a single explanation on the nature of her relationship with the businessman while Holz himself declines to confirm if he is dating the actress-singer or not.

"I'd prefer not to say anything about the situation," Holz was quoted as saying by the website. The 21-year-old actress has been photographed with Holz during her vacation prompting rumors that the two are dating.

Though Lohan has typically gone for DJs, actors and musicians in the past, her latest companion is a Carnegie Mellon graduate who previously owned a couple of Internet cafes on the Hawaiian island.

'Star Trek' lives long and prospers

By Kelley L. Carter

USA, 01 May, 2009

LOS ANGELES — While filming Star Trek, Zachary Quinto and his dramatic, plucked eyebrows rarely made a public appearance.

"I wore these big framed black sunglasses whenever I did go out to hide those eyebrows. And I didn't really go out unless I just had to," Quinto said Thursday night on the black carpet at the film's Hollywood premiere.

Quinto — he plays Spock, and thankfully his brows are back to normal — the cast of the new film, several original members from the TV series and famous Trekkies posed, greeted one another and milled around a large scale starship.Quinto said he studied his iconic character so much he could write a dissertation on him.

"Having Leonard Nimoy around helped," Quinto added. (Nimoy played the original Spock). "But there's no shortage about the mythology of the characters out there, so I read a lot."Zoe Saldana, who plays Uhura, said there were times where she could barely wrap her head around taking on the role .

"There were moments of consciousness about it and then there were moments where I didn't need to think about that in order to contribute to the character," Saldana said.

She joked that her biggest fear wasn't pleasing director J.J. Abrams, who handpicked her for the part originally played by Nichelle Nichols. It was her mom, who was a big fan of the original series and would watch it religiously in Spanish.

"Oh my God," Saldana said in an exaggerated drawl, "Sometimes on my voicemail while we were filming, she would leave on my phone 'Zoe! Zoe! — and my mom has this really beautiful New York and Spanish accent — Oh my God! Uhura is very sexy and commanding and you need to be like that!' I was like 'Um, thank you very much mom.' I guess she thought she was directing me too."

Chris Pine, who steps into William Shatner's Captain Kirk role, said he tried to think less about the pop culture phenomenon that is Star Trek, and more about making a new film that appeals to both diehards and new fans.

"I think if JJ had presented me a vision of this movie that was one of impersonation and mimickery, I would have run as far from that room as possible," he said, laughing. "But his vision was about reimagining it, taking it from the fundamental core and moving on and looking at it with a different perspective. I felt like that was a good challenge and something that I wanted to be a part of."

Las Vegas Strip performer Danny Gans dies at 52

Associated Press
May 1, 2009

LAS VEGAS -- Danny Gans, a singer, actor and impressionist who for nearly two decades was one of the most popular entertainers on the Las Vegas Strip, died suddenly in his sleep today. He was 52.

Officials at Wynn Resorts, where Gans had performed at the Encore Theater since February, and at The Mirage, where he performed for more than eight years before that, reported that Gans died suddenly in his sleep.

"All of us in The Mirage family are deeply saddened to learn of Danny's passing," Scott Sibella, president of The Mirage, said in a statement released through parent company MGM Mirage Inc. "We all knew of his devotion to his family and our hearts and prayers are with his wife and children."

Gans was found dead about 3 a.m. by his wife, Julie, at their home in Henderson, said Wynn Resorts spokeswoman Jennifer Dunne.

Henderson police did not immediately respond to messages seeking comment, and the Clark County coroner's office said no information about Gans was immediately available.

Steve Wynn, chief executive of Wynn Resorts, called Gans' death "a profoundly tragic event that leaves us all sad and speechless."

"The loss of Danny to his wife Julie, his children Amy, Andrew and Emily is at this moment impossible to comprehend," Wynn said in a statement issued on behalf of his company, himself and his wife, Elaine Wynn.

"All of us ... are devastated at the loss of our brilliant, talented and loving friend," Wynn said.

Gans was a hard-working, eager-to-please nightclub entertainer who did rapid-fire imitations of personalities ranging from Tony Bennett to Al Pacino to Sarah Vaughan. He performed a one-man show, "Danny Gans on Broadway: The Man of Many Voices," in 1995 at the Neil Simon Theater in New York before returning to Las Vegas.

Gans was active in the Las Vegas community where he hosted charity events and was featured prominently on billboards in and around town. The electronic marquee in front of the Encore posted his picture and the message: "Our friend forever, Danny Gans. 1956-2009."

He opened Feb. 10 in the 1,500-seat Encore Theater in a concourse between the posh Encore and Wynn resorts on the Strip. Show nights were Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Dunne said Gans did not perform Thursday night.

Gans' manager, Chip Lightman, released a statement Friday saying Gans would be remembered as an entertainer and a man who loved his family, God and the city of Las Vegas.

"Danny has been my partner and dear friend for over 18 years. I will truly miss him," Lightman said.
