Pop princess Britney Spears has been chosen by her gay fans for an award which honours artistes who provide role models for the homosexual community.
The 'Womanizer' singer is to be honoured as a gay icon at a forthcoming celebration of modern pop culture, 'NewNowNext' prize giving.
The singer will receive the 'AlwaysNextForeverNow' award which pays homage to role models within the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community, reported ‘Contactmusic’. The ceremony, to be hosted by iconic drag queen RuPaul, will be aired on US network MTV's gay-themed station Logo on 13 June.
The 27-year-old singer who is currently on a world tour to promote her comeback album 'Circus' is making headlines with her revealing costumes and raunchy onstage antics.
