Jolie suffers head injury on set

Actress Angelina Jolie was taken to hospital on Friday after suffering a head injury while on set for her latest film, movie bosses have said.

The 33-year-old was shooting an action sequence for upcoming thriller Salt in New York when she suffered "a minor bump to the head". 

Columbia Pictures spokesman Steve Elzer said Jolie was taken to a local hospital as a "precautionary measure". 

He added she was back on set later that day and production had resumed. 

Salt sees Jolie star as a CIA officer who goes on the run after being accused of being a Russian sleeper spy. 

It had been reported last year that the role had been initially earmarked for Hollywood actor Tom Cruise, and that the script and title were reworked after Jolie became involved in the film. 

The movie, which also features X-Men Origins: Wolverine star Liev Schreiber and British actor Chiwetel Ejiofor, is due to be released in cinemas in the summer of next year.

I could not leave shooting in London to vote: Salman

Actor Salman Khan said that he was shooting in London for Anil Sharma's 'Veer' on April 30, the polling day in Mumbai, and hence could not cast his vote. 

"It was not possible for me to take a flight from London just to show that I voted," Salman said when asked why he failed to cast his vote when he had extensively campaigned for some candidates.  When pointed out that his contemporaries Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan had specially flown down to Mumbai from their foreign destinations to perform their duty as a citizen, Salman said, "They have the time and money to do so which I do not have." 

To a question on whether he felt voting was not important, Salman in his inimitable style said, "The Government should make voting mandatory by punishing people who don't do so and giving incentives to citizens to vote. I would come for that extra money."

Charlize Theron punched on the face by Will Smith

Charlize Theron was once punched on the face by actor Will Smith on the sets of their first movie. 

Smith was preparing to portray legendary boxer Muhammad Ali in a film when he starred alongside the blonde beauty in 'The Legend of Bagger Vance' in 2000 and accidentally punched her while displaying his boxing skills, reported ‘Femalefirst’. "The first time I worked with him he punched me in the face. He was training for 'Ali'. I encouraged him to show me a couple of moves. I was completely knocked out!" said the 33-year-old Theron. 

But the painful experience did not stop the actress from working with the actor again, who teamed up with the 40-year-old actor in 'Hancock' in 2008. The Academy winning actress also insisted that she loves working with Smith, despite falling victim to his powerful punch. 

"Seriously, though, I'd be happy to be punched out by Will anytime. He swore to me that it was an accident," said the actress.

SC allows Sanjay Dutt to go abroad for six months

Bollywood actor and Samajwadi Party General Secretary Sanjay Dutt, who is on bail in connection with the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case, was allowed by the Supreme Court to go abroad for six months for the shooting of five films. 

Dutt, who has actively campaigned for the party in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, had moved the apex court with the details of his itinerary about his visit to South Africa, Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Zambia and Namibia from June to December this year. The titles of the five new films are -- 'All the Best Fun Begins', 'No Problem', 'Double Dhamal', 'Sankee' and 'Indians.' 

Dutt, who was convicted and sentenced to six years imprisonment in the 1993 serial blasts case by a Mumbai TADA court under the Arms Act for possessing illegal weapons, has to take the permission of the apex court before leaving the country. The court has admitted his appeal against the conviction. The actor, whose conviction and sentence was not stayed by the court for contesting the Lok Sabha polls from Lucknow, is on bail since November 27, 2007 and has been allowed in the past to go abroad for his business commitments but with certain conditions. 

He has to surrender his passport to the CBI's Special Task Force, Mumbai, on his return from abroad by January 5, 2010.
