Britney Spears adds fuel to her cousin's singing dream

Agencies - May 14, 2009

Here's some good work coming out of the troubled popstar Britney Spears, who fired her cousin Alli Sims from her assistant's post so that the upcoming artiste could focus on her singing career.

Spears was particularly impressed with a song recorded by Alli as a teen, and made her promise that she would seriously get down to making her own music, reported ‘Contacmusic’.

"I was sitting with her in the living room... and a song I'd done in high school popped up and she was like, 'I love this song, who's singing it?' I go, 'I am actually.' She goes, 'You're still living with me? I'm getting another assistant to help me out and you're pursuing this," said the budding singer.

Sims is grateful to her 'Toxic' singer cousin for having forced her to pursue her singing dream, and cleared all rumours that the two sisters had a fallout.

"We didn't have a falling out at all or anything. I just kind of stepped back. She had a lot of stuff going on that she needed to focus on, so I took that time to put all my energy into my music," Sims was quoting telling to a US news show. Earlier reports stated that Sims was fired from Spears' assistant's post as her father Jamie had taken up the pop star's affairs into his hands.

Sims, who has recently come up with her new single 'Driving Blind', is looking forward to sitting down with Spear's again and catching up like old times.

"I definitely think I'll talk to her soon. It's not like we're never going to talk again. I love her to death and I miss her and I hope she's happy."

‘Britney wants to turn to teaching’

ANI - May 13, 2009

Britney Spears is thinking of swapping her music career with teaching, according to her cousin Alli Sims.

Sims, who grew up with the pop princess and assisted the singer in 2007, had been fired by the star’s father Jamie. But the 28-year-old said the Womanizer hitmaker often spoke of her wish to work with kids and become a school teacher.

"Britney would always say, ''Maybe I just want to be a teacher. I just want to do something on a normal level. I've been something big for so long," ‘Contactmusic’ quoted Sims as telling British magazine Reveal.

Ooops, crazy Britney Spears fan’s done it again . . .

By Gayle Fee and Laura Raposa
Wednesday, May 6, 2009

Seriously, how many psycho, blond, alliteratively named, boy fans does Britney Spears have? Well, probably thousands . . . .

So here’s a look at the latest - Kyle King - the “crazed” Spears aficionado who stormed the stage at Brit’s Mohegan Sun concert this past weekend. King bears more than a passing resemblence to Spears’ most famous fan of all - Chris Crocker - the “Leave Britney Alone” Internet sensation, don’t cha think?

As you know, King, 20, shown in his Mohegan Sun mugshot, was arrested the other night after he jumped on stage at the Connecticut casino and tried to bust some moves with Brit during her encore performance of “Womanizer.”

King got within inches of the terrified pop princess, who frantically waved her arms and screamed, “Oh my God! Oh my God!” Interestingly, none of this was heard by the crowd - even though Brit was miked - which didn’t do anything to stop those lip-syncing rumors!

King, who police said was drunk and uncooperative, was released on $250 bond. He’s due back in court in Connecticut on June 18.

Britney to splash £15k on oxygen chamber to refresh her voice!

ANI / May 05, 2009

Britney Spears is getting her life back together, and she’s leaving no stone unturned to make sure that her voice remains as refreshing as it used to be.

While she has been lip-synching to virtually all her songs on her ‘Circus’ world tour, the Womanizer star is planning to dish out a whopping 15,000 pounds on an oxygen chamber.

“Since her Vancouver gig, where she ran off stage as it was too smoky, she’s become paranoid about breathing in too much bad air,” The Sun quoted a source as saying. The source added: “She’s keen on an oxygen chamber that will reverse any smoke inhalation damage.”

However, the 27-year-old singer is not the only celeb to indulge in the expensive device. Singers of the likes of Madonna, Mick Jagger and Michael Jackson also own such chambers.

Britney Spears: This hotel guest's list of demands

CBS News / May 05, 2009

This CBS News report out of London lists pop star Britney Spears' desires during her stay at the famed Dorchester Hotel. Spears will be in London next month for eight shows at London's 02 arena as part of her Circus tour. It will make those of you who think that you're a picky guest think again.

Among her requests: a room that has "never" been smoked in, humidifiers in all areas, a selection of current magazines, fresh flowers she'll arrange herself, chick-lit novels, DVDs of Marilyn Monroe movies, 100-watt light bulbs, running routes for Hyde Park and more. She won't need special pillows because she bring her own. And one more thing: Security will sleep outside her room.

Hoteliers: What are the strangest requests you've ever received, whether from a pop star or anyone else? Hotel guests: What are oddest things you've ever requested from your hotel?

There’s always one at every concert who is dying to get up close and personal… At Britney Spears’ concert in Connecticut Saturday, 20 year old Kyle King decided to evade security and dance with Britney during the encore performance of “Womanizer”.

Unfortunately for Kyle King, Britney and her dancers, after dancing for a few seconds without noticing him, had Kyle ushered off with security.

King ended up at the police station and according to TMZ, paid $250 bond Sunday after being charged with “breach of peace and interfering with the police”.

Britney Spears & The Pussycat Dolls Concert Review

By FanBolt

April 29, 2009

Britney Spears is back, and she knows how to put on a show. The Circus Tour is surely rolling into an arena near you, and if you have a couple of hundred dollars and enjoy pyrotechnics, magicians and trapeze artists then this show is definitely one not to be missed. The Spears doubters, and there have been many, have disappeared as ticket prices have sky rocketed on auction sites, and Britney merchandise is flying off the shelves on every tour stop. As show time approached everyone from young girls adorned in home made Britney t-shirts to twenty somethings who were those young girls just a few years ago, as well as their boyfriends and parents who were constantly looking at their watches, flooded into the sold out arena.

The Pussycat Dolls opened the show and made their way through a high energy, 45 minute set. With the massive stage they had to work with the group and were forced to spread out, and rarely stayed in one place for too long. An entire song was never completed in the same spot. The Dolls emerged in sparkling hoodies and kept the audience as involved as possible. It’s obvious who the real star of the show is. Nicole Scherzinger may be the next Beyonce, it seems as if she has become too big for the group format to work for her. Constantly in front of the other members with multiple spotlights fixed on her throughout the set, Scherzinger’s powerful voice and stage presence made the rest of the group look, merely, like back up dancers. Although, they are a pop group, the quintet does have talent. Performances of mega hits “Stickwitu,” and “You Are My Destiny,” were especially strong.

The queen of pop was lowered down from the ceiling as the arena shook with ear splitting screams. A video montage played which starred Perez Hilton welcoming everyone to The Circus. Dozens of costume changes, risque dance moves, and a flow of hit songs followed. To keep with the circus theme the stage was in the round, one big stage attached to two smaller stages for the three ring effect. To keep everyone happy Spears and her army of dancers, clowns, jugglers and magicians were constantly moving. Spears only addressed the crowd once saying “Hello Oakland.” In her last stop in Northern California she hadn’t even gotten that much right, saying hello to Sacramento from the stage in San Jose. The scale of this show is unlike any other currently running, but it felt more like a scripted spectacle than anything else.

The circus performers were a big part of the 90 minute set, when Spears would disappear for a costume change the circus act would take over, at times taking the audience out of the show. Once Britney left the stage the cell phones would come out and the texting began. Spears had no problem getting them back on their feet though, she must have lowered down from the ceiling or risen up from beneath the stage a half dozen times. As far as the actual music went the backing track covered most of the vocals, so the star could concentrate on hitting her spots. At times it looked as if she were bored, letting the dancers around her move and shake giving the illusion she was actually expending effort, when in reality she was just hitting another spot on cue. That being said, Britney is quite the polished performer, at one point losing a few hair extensions as a dancer was lifting her into the air. In the general admission area it was painfully obvious what had just happened and some murmurs rippled through the handful of fans toward the front. Britney gracefully landed back on the couch she had been lifted off of and covered the platinum blonde hair as she was lowered out of sight.

The song selection was varied and Spears mixed up new hits “Circus,” with older ones, “I’m a Slave 4 U.” She even went back to the beginning, and, performed a remixed version of “Baby One More Time,” the song that rocketed her to superstardom. She saved “Womanizer,” for the encore. Spears gave many different looks throughout the night. At some points she was reminiscent of a younger Madonna, at others, after a long dance routine on a pole, a stripper and at some points memories of her cringe worthy VMA performance surfaced. For the most part the show was what one would expect. Between the ring of fire, the final burst of confetti and the pop songs that seem to never grow old, Britney is back, and here to stay.
